This summer’s internship was filled with learning and meaningful connections as our interns explored career pathways in defense and innovation. Through hands-on projects, mentorship, and real-world experience, participants gained valuable insight into Hawai‘i’s growing technology and defense sectors.
We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that set our interns up for success while helping to strengthen Hawai‘i’s workforce and build the next generation of local leaders.
P3I Launches Hawai‘i’s First VICEROY MAVEN Internship, Opening Doors to National Security Careers
Hawai‘i’s strategic role in the Indo-Pacific makes it a vital hub for national defense — and now, local students have a new pathway to be part of it. The Pacific Intelligence & Innovation Initiative (P3I) recently launched the state’s first-ever VICEROY MAVEN internship program, designed to prepare kama‘āina for high-demand careers in intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and related fields — all without leaving the islands.

Keeping Talent in Hawai‘i
Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Army Pacific, Casey Griffith, and intern Natalie Ching recently spoke about the importance of keeping Hawai‘i talent in Hawai‘i to meet growing needs in cybersecurity, IT, and tech.
Griffith highlighted that building a local, skilled workforce strengthens both national security and Hawai‘i’s economy. Ching shared how programs like P3I give students real opportunities to launch high-paying tech careers without leaving the islands.
