The Fall 2026 Student Volunteer Internship Program (SVIP) at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), in collaboration with the Pacific Intelligence & Innovation Initiative, invites applications from motivated students seeking hands-on national security experience.
This highly competitive program enables students to directly support mission-critical efforts at INDOPACOM Headquarters in Camp Smith, Hawaii, and to contribute to real-world national security challenges in the Indo-Pacific.
Program Overview: 14 weeks, August 31 to December 4, 2026; part time (~15 hours/week) at Camp Smith, Hawaii. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the work site.
Applications must be received by 11:59PM HST on April 30, 2026.
Selections will be made by May 15, 2026.
Conditional offers will be made on May 18, 2026.

Eligibility:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be eligible for an Interim Secret Clearance
- Must have transportation to work on-site at Camp Smith
- Must be a college undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate student
- Strong academic standing
- Demonstrated interest in defense and national security

- AI/ML-enabled analytics and decision support
- Data strategy, visualization, and operational insights
- Support for enterprise data modernization efforts
Four (4) internship opportunities are with the INDOPACOM J6 – Communications, Cyber, and IT Services:
- Cybersecurity and network operations support
- Communications infrastructure and systems integration
- IT service management and operational support
- Digital transformation and emerging technology initiatives
Interns will collaborate with military, civilian, and industry professionals, gaining exposure to real-world operational planning, data-driven decision-making, and enterprise IT challenges.
