Summer 2024 Intern Visit to U.S. Army Pacific, Fort Shafter

Summer 2024 interns representing Nakupuna, Pacific Economics, MC3, SMX, and HII, and their mentors, visited U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) at Fort Shafter to learn about USARPAC’s mission, career opportunities, and benefits working within the Department of Defense.

The group toured the new state-of-the-art Command and Control Facility to see how USARPAC supports disaster relief efforts like the August 2024 wildfires on Maui, underscoring their essential support to the state of Hawai‘i during crises.

Brig Gen Lance A. Okumura, Deputy Commanding General of USARPAC – Mobilization and Reserve Affairs, stopped by to meet the interns to share invaluable insight as a leader.

Major General James Bartholomees, Chief of Staff of USARPAC also provided a briefing of USARPAC’s responsibilities and how it is addressing threats in the region that emphasize the critical role of USARPAC and the integral support to the Hawaii community in military operations and training.

USARPAC employees from operations and exercise to IT and communication departments shared testimony on the positive impact their roles and the benefits of being part of the USARPAC team. The event underscored the collaborative effort and dedication of USARPAC personnel in fulfilling their duties while fostering strong community ties.
