Leeward Community College (LCC) is offering an Introduction to Computer Security (ICS 171) to rising high school juniors, seniors and 2025 high school graduates this summer from June 2 – July 25, 2025. This FREE in-person class will examine the essentials of computer security, including risk management, the use of encryption, activity monitoring, intrusion detection; and the creation and implementation of security policies and procedures to aid in security administration.
P3I will enhance this course with field trips to defense businesses on O‘ahu and the opportunity meet and connect with information technology (IT) professionals.
The deadline to apply is May 1, 2025.
Application Steps:
- For current high school students: Complete the online LCC Early College/Running Start application at apply.hawaii.edu & Complete the Dual Credit Application.
- For 2025 high school graduates: Complete the online LCC High School Graduates application at apply.hawaii.edu.
- ** Both groups of students will need to complete the next steps after LCC admission including creating a UH username and placement testing (English)
- **Class of 2025 will also need to submit their immunization and vaccinations records
- Dual credit can be offered to any student at a Hawaii Dept. of Education school.
