Applications
Q: Who is eligible to participate?
A: Present undergraduate juniors or seniors and graduate students who are available full-time on O‘ahu from June 16 – July 31, 2025.
Q: What if I am not available on O‘ahu for part of the time between June 16 and July 31, 2025?
A: It is very important to be physically available on O‘ahu for the program to participate.
Q: When are applications due?
A: A complete application, including university reference, must be received by P3I by January 31, 2025, 11:59PM Hawai‘i Standard Time.
Q: What if my application is not complete?
A: Applications must be complete in order to be considered.
Q: What if my reference does not respond to the request?
A: Your application will be considered incomplete. Please be sure that your reference is aware of the requirement to respond within seven (7) calendar days of the email request.
Q: What if my application is completed late?
A: Applications must be received by the due date in order to be considered.
Selection
Q: How will my application be reviewed?
A: The P3I review panel will be reviewing complete application packages. Applicants selected for potential participation will be interviewed by P3I Advisors and Command Mentors.
Q: When will interviews be conducted?
A: Interviews will be conducted in February and March 2025.
Q: How will I know if I was selected for participation?
A: You will be contacted by email from info@hawaiip3i.org.
Q: If selected, when do I need to confirm my participation?
A: Your notification letter will be sent by email with the required acceptance date.
Internship Program
Q: What is the time period for the VICEROY-MAVEN-Hawai‘i internship?
A: June 16 through July 31, 2025
Q: What if I am unavailable for part of the program period?
A: Please apply to participate if you are confident that you can participate for the full period.
Q: Is this a full-time internship?
A: Yes, the internship is during regular business hours, depending on the command mentor’s requirements. There may be some evening and/or weekend activities.
Q: Can I work another job (part-time or virtual) while participating in the program?
A: In order to maximize your experience, participants are encouraged to focus on the VICEROY MAVEN-Hawai‘i program.
Q: Where will I be working?
A: The internship sites are military bases on O‘ahu.
Q: Do I need to live on O‘ahu in order to participate?
A: Participants need to be on O‘ahu for the full duration of the VICEROY MAVEN-Hawai‘i program. If your primary residence is on a neighbor island, you will be required to be in-person on O‘ahu at your own expense.
Q: Do I need to provide my own transportation for all activities?
A: Yes, transportation to access to a military base is required. This requires a current driver’s license, vehicle registration, and car insurance.
Q: Will I be paid?
A: Selected program participants will be paid about $4,000.
Security Clearance
Q: Why do I need a Security Clearance?
A: Due to the nature of the work for this internship, the VICEROY MAVEN-Hawai‘i internship program requires participants to obtain a security clearance.
Q: What if I am not able to pass the Security Clearance?
A: You are required to pass the Security Clearance in order to participate in the VICEROY MAVEN-Hawai‘i internship program.
